my OBGYN has put me on bed rest as I have already started to dilate! 2cm+. She thinks I will have the baby sooner than November 20th. I am getting excited for our little guy to get here!

...BOY! Of course, Roger is so excited. I myself didn't care either way. All I care about is that it is healthy mentally and physically. So we are 1/2 way through! Just another 20 weeks to go! It will be super-slow for me I am sure!

Um, I kinda forgot that I have this blog and boy have I been negligent in posting any pics of our new place post-move.. AND I'm not going to post any today, sorry! The place is a mess! And I certainly have been burnt out on completing all the fine details Roger has left for me, like patching the crown molding and cleaning the windows. Well I guess I haven't been feeling to well since we moved... maybe it's because I am expecting!

I guess it's our NEW ADVENTURE! That I will hopefully feel like keeping up with here at The Adventures of Tara & Roger. Spose I will have to rename the blog: "The Adventures of Tara, Roger and TBD" hahahah!

So, on that note I will leave you with a practice shot from my garden of the newly blooming clematis that is indeed beautiful!

The Lazy Poster

So yes, indeed I am poor poster and updater of this blog! BUT we are very close to be being able to move in!

We have the floor painted, cabinets installed, concrete counter tops installed, lighting installed, bathroom stuff installed, new appliances, some furniture moved.... whew! We have been busy!

When we get moved in and the furniture arranged I promise to take a plethora or portraits of our new abode!

So as you can see, Roger started putting up the pine paneling in the kitchen, doesn't look too shabby if I say so myself!

Staining Part 2!

Since the weather was so nice this week we also have gotten the exterior of our little placed stained as well. It's called "Chestnut".

So our plan for the wall treatment in the main living space and kitchen are pine wood panels we had sawed up by an Amish Dude from Berlin, Ohio. After, we picked up the sawed lumber from the Amish Dude, Roger and I planed the panels and my Dad gave each board a straight edge and a lap joint.

The first time we went in search of this Amish Dude, his brother's big white horse was loose in the road and the Amish Dude jumped in my car for a ride down the road to catch the horse!

Right now, I am in the process of staining each piece "Winter White" to give it a white washed look. Below you can see a few of the boards I have stained already.

The boards look a little shiny in these photos, but hopefully the boards will soak up the stain and you will be able to see some of the grain and color of the wood.

We have also started painting the bedroom and bathroom. I was thinking about painting the bedroom two different shades of a grey0ish purple but decided against it. I don't think Rog would like it very much! HAHA☺

Back in the Swing of Things!

I think my last post was back in July, wow... Well we haven't really gotten much accomplished at the house this past Summer, but things are picking up again!

The drywall is finished, by some really horrible drywall finishers, I have never seen such a horrendous job! These guys CLEARLY didn't know what they were doing. They totally missed joints, left screw holes un-sanded, there are glops of mud stuck to my new shower.... arg! But we went ahead and tried to fix it up the best we could and painted it. The image below shows a seam on the ceiling after we painted it. You can see that these jokers used WAY TOO MUCH drywall mud, then didn't smooth it out or even it up! grrrr....

Yes, it's been a very long time friends, since I've posted pics for this blog! Lazy, me! We have put up some drywall and bought a shower. The dogs joined us for this job, Libbie kept lookout and Buckshot guarded the truck. Next Step: finishing the drywall. Roger is not allowed to do that. *snicker* ; )

Yeah, so I have been pretty bad about posting new pics of our progress on the barn down in Logan. But just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean we haven't been working. On the contrary, I have been too tired (throw a little lazy in there too) to edit photos and post. I have been a little lazy about posting lately, I have been running around in (literally) knee deep mud trying to help out on the barn-house. Since it's pouring down rain today, we decided to stay home, so I thought I would update you all on our progress!

We used Red Oak rough cut lumber for the siding. Eventually, it will weather to a soft grey-black and look very rustic!

The truck was pretty well laden this morning when Roger took off for Logan. The old girl had a bit of a squat to her as Roger rumbled down the road. Roger unloaded and loaded all that concrete twice today, no wonder he is beat!

So, this new place we are building will be a simple Post and Beam construction, of course, the first thing that needed to be done was to set the corner and wall posts, carefully measuring and re-measuring to keep the framework square. Looks chilly, doesn't it? Thanks to the Construction Crew who lent a good hand!

Next up: Laying a gravel base for the concrete pad.

Yesterday was another cloudy day down in the Hills. But it seems we are making some progress on getting a flat spot to build on. As you can see the dozer moved a lot dirt and pushed it out over that far edge and quite a bit has built up. Can't wait to try and mow this:

When Roger was down on the land yesterday burning the brush pile and getting things ready for the guys to come cut in the driveway and pad for our new place, he walked down to our 'mini' cave and took this picture. Our cave is pretty shallow, but it is beautiful!

A Quick Introduction

Hello! Let me introduce myself. My name is Tara Davis. I am married to Roger Davis. We have been married a little over 7 years. We don't have any kids yet, but having a family is definitely one of our long term goals.

We DO have two wonderfully cute and lazy yellow labs that are very spoiled. (see below: L-R: Liberty Anne & Buckshot)

Right now we are in a bit of a transition period. We put our 3000 sq. ft. home in Lancaster, Ohio up for sale and are building a small home down in the Hocking Hills of Logan, Ohio. (Wanna buy a really NICE house? Just minutes away from the big River Valley Mall! oooooo.)

A few years back Roger's Grandfather gave him a piece of land, mostly woods and hills. We plan to build a small economical and environmentally friendly home there. Complete with a spacious painting and ceramics studio (for me!).

This past Fall we started clearing land to get ready for our new home. Here are some images to catch you up with the work we have done so far.

Building a home from scratch is a new project for Roger and me. Even though the house we live in now was completely remolded by us (okay, okay by Roger), this new home will be completely designed and built by us.

With this blog I hope to document our progress as we set forth on this new journey and share it with you, our Family and Friends. I am sure there will be laughs and tears along the way... (oh wait, there already has been... sigh... ☺) ...but it will mean growing, learning and strengthening our bond along the way. GO TEAM!
